2027 Women from 1920 – The Jazz Age at Its Most Liberating

The 1920s were a revolution dressed in fringe and pearls. Women cut their hair, shortened their skirts, entered the workforce and the speakeasy in the same stride — and decided, collectively, that their bodies were their own business. These thirteen artworks work in the aesthetic language of the period — Art Deco geometry, the chiaroscuro of early studio photography, the particular poses and gestures of the flapper era — but they go further than the period itself dared. Fully nude, fully unapologetic, fully themselves.
